If you have read my posts before then you know I am a fan of bubbles. At all price points! So my friends and I decided to “taste the stars” at Calvert Woodley’s Champagne and Sparkling Wine tasting.

For bubbles to be called Champagne, it has to be made in the region of Champagne (France). Sometimes Champagne can be on the pricey side. So if you have Champagne taste but beer money then try a Crèmant (sparkling wine). They are made with the same technique but have a really great price point. Perfect to take to a holiday party or give as a gift. Lucien Albrecht is a delicious example.

Attending a tasting is a great way to try expensive or hard to find bottles. You are able to step outside your comfort zone and try different stuff. Some tastings are sit down and educational, some you simply walk around to different tables and a person pours you a taste. There are even weekly tastings in wine shops or liquor stores (normally for free). After a tasting, discounts are generally offered on bottles that you have sampled.

Now get out there and have some fun. Tis’ the season!
