If it weren’t for Instagram, I wouldn’t know August was Washington State’s wine month. I have to be honest, I’m not that familiar with wine from Washington State. Actually drinking WA wine seems like a more enjoyable way to educate myself then simply going to Google. So I took two bottles over to a friend’s house, Cs from Wines of Substance (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) and Charles Smith’s Boom Boom! Syrah (100% Syrah). We both got blackberry and chocolate aromas from the Cabernet. The Syrah definitely had black cherry and a little funk. Which we both enjoyed. Imbibe these wines with food.

The wines we shared were by Charles Smith, a man with a fascinating background. It all started with working in restaurants and managing a rock band. Which took him around the world. Charles made a quick pitstop in Walla Walla. This stop led him to cross paths with a French winemaker. Little did he know that this gentleman would convince him to make wine. Charles now has multiple wine labels under his belt. Remember the previous post about choosing a path?

I’ve decided to attend the Wine Bloggers conference this year in Walla Walla, Washington (I just like saying that). I can’t wait to learn more about WA wine and meet new people. Who knows, maybe I’ll find my Frenchman like Charles did.

Charles Smith — Wines of Substance. I love the cool periodic table look.Boom Boom! Syrah. Who doesn’t love saying the name of this wine!!
