Good times Saturday night at the Mason Dixie Fried Chicken and Champagne Pop Up! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you can’t go wrong with Fried Chicken and Champagne.

After closing their drive-thru restaurant, Mason Dixie is planning to open up a sit down restaurant in Shaw DC. Ya’ll go get those flaky biscuits and slather on the butter!! Heck we inhaled an entire plate. The sides included fresh watermelon with mint, mac and cheese (we all agreed that more cheese could be added) and vegetarian collard greens.

The Pop Up was held at Flight Bar in Chinatown. I love the decor, made to have a winery feel (cork floors, wood on the walls). Opened in 2014, the Flight Bar is owned by husband and wife, Kabir Amir and Swati Bose (both super friendly and very accommodating). We were served a scoop of their salted caramel chocolate gelato for dessert and finished the night with a Muscat (sweet) wine. I’m normally not a dessert person but these hit that sweet spot!

I would suggest Flight Bar to wine novices, wine geeks or anyone trying to impress a first date.
