“Come quickly, I am tasting the stars” – I know Dom Pérignon (a Benedictine monk from the famous Champagne House Dom Pérignon) said this but wow this is how I felt the other day.
I was so happy to attend the tasting at Zachys DC (I sleep there now, in the warehouse) to try these beautiful bubbles from Ruinart. Ruinart, located in Reims, France has been around since 1729. That’s pretty impressive. However, they are now owned by the multi-billion dollar company LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy).
I always tell people to go to tastings! It’s a great way to taste some pretty rare, expensive things. Without paying the rare, expensive price. It’s also a way to find out what you like and don’t like. I mean, what a wonderful experience to taste Ruinart’s 2002 Blanc de Blancs & 2006 Rosé. Both expensive (for my pockets) and really hard to find.
I will have to admit, I thought I would really like the 2006 Rosé but totally preferred the Blanc de Blancs NV (non-vintage). Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is made with 100% Chardonnay and I enjoyed its yeasty, minerality.
See, tastings work!
