For some serious Winelovers & Somms this post may not mean much. To be able to try wine this old was simply amazing. A 1947 Barolo, 1985 Cote du Rhône and a 1978 Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma (all amazing and as they opened up became more amazing!). Someone in the room even got to try a Madeira made in their birth year (1990, yikes)! I even tried two white wines, one from 1990 (it was nutty and salty).

I don’t know if I will ever get to be in a circle full of folks that taste wine this old for “everyday work.” But for me, it was magical. Volunteering at SommConDC made me realize that I am where I am supposed to be. I hope this feeling never ends.
