I was so excited when I picked my order up. I knew the exact wine I wanted to try with it. Crab legs and shrimp with the head on swimming in a spicy Hook & Reel Special House Blend. Yes, please! The wine played so nicely with the spiciness of the sauce. Y’all this was so good!
Wait, do you like shrimp with the head on or off? This is a serious question. Lol. I won’t judge you. Okay I might side eye you…
The wine: Longavi Wines is a collaboration between Chilean producer Julio Bouchon and South African winemaker David Nieuwoudt. This was my second wine from Longavi (my first was their 100% Cinsault). Some of the grapes are fermented in Amphora with the skins on and the rest in stainless steel until blended together. Citrus. Peach. Floral. Juicy. Great acidity. Unfined and unfiltered. I enjoyed it over a few days and it was still fresh.
Yum! Sounds like a great crisp and clean white, with a spicy and messy seafood bag – opposites attract.
Very true! Trying different pairings is a good thing. It was so tasty!!
This sounds like an awesome combination and I love the playful label.
Longavi does make fun wine and fun labels. Cheers!
