Before last week’s Golden Wines of Bordeaux class, I definitely would not have thought outside the box when it came to pairing sweet wines with food. However, Yannick Benjamin said try something different. So I did. I ordered a medium heat Chicken Breast Wrap from Nando Peri Peri — a mix of crunchy vegetables, sweet chilli jam and tangy yogurt sauce. Ordering medium heat chicken mixed with sweet chili jam played perfectly with Château La Hargue’s Semi Dry (not overly sweet) wine. This wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Semillon. It is from Bordeaux Moelleux, one of the 8 AOPs (Appellations d’Origine Protegee) of Bordeaux.

We also tasted two other appellations and even learned how to try them in a cocktail. I’m all about cocktails! So stay tuned for a sweet wine cocktail recipe.

Here are the other wines and their appellations:

* Château Dauphiné-Rondillon Cuvee Or [AOP Loupiac]

* Château La Rame [AOP Sainte-Croix-du-Mont]
