What a sad but happy time Friday night. Sad because someone in the DMVTravelCrew is moving away. Happy because we were able to spend time together before she leaves.
What better way to celebrate her than with New York Champagne Week, Fried Chicken from Marcus Samuelsson and Rita Jammet’s La Caravelle Champagne! As I said last night. These bubbles. This chicken. All kinds of feelings.
Fried Chicken and Bubbles are a classic pairing. The Chicken was sent from Gold Belly. All we had to do was warm everything up. It was perfect! The bubbles were ordered from Wired for Wine. It was my first time trying La Caravelle and it honestly lived up to the hype! Just when we all thought the Rosè was the favorite, we tried the Cuvée Nina. Delicious! Both Champagnes are a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier. Aged on the lees for 24 months. Awesome QPRs for Champagne.
We also popped a few more bottles (AR LeNoble Rosé Terriors & Schramsberg Vintage 2008 Blanc de Blancs) to keep the party going! A Tasty Journey made the “infamous” dip (crème fraîche and Lipton Onion Soup mix) to go with our caviar on top of a Kettle Chip. Okay Julia & Shakera, y’all were right! It’s dayum good! I also did just crème fraîche, caviar and a Kettle Chip. Yummy but not the same. Sure blinis are the normal vessel for caviar but try something different!
Cheers to new things!
Sounds delicious! Drinky La Rue recommended a tasting at Schramsberg on my trip to Napa last year. Great advice! I feel like I can still taste their delicious Blanc de Blancs just seeing the label.
Thank you!! So glad you enjoyed it. They make fabulous bubbles!
