On a whim, I decided to stop by the incredibly busy, Black-owned, Spice Suite in Washington, DC. To my surprise there wasn’t the usual line outside the door and down the block. I was able to go in and browse with only a few people in line (lucky me!). The owner, Angel, is normally in the shop to help customers but at that moment she wasn’t there. Darn. I was hoping to witness her bubbly personality! Angel personally curates spices from all over the world. From those spices she creates spice blends, oils, sauces and teas. She recently started her own Spice Suite kitchen/cookware line.

You guys already know that I don’t really cook much but I’m hoping her sauces and spices will give me the courage to do more. The adult lollipops will probably be used as a stirrer for my tea or bourbon cocktails. The Vanilla Rose and Pomegranate Rose sugar cubes will probably be used for tea and/or a cocktail too!

These are the sauces and spices that I purchased. They smell sooo good! To find out the specific blends and suggestions on how to use them, check out her website: thespicesuite.com.

I was asked on IG to post the food using Angel’s spices. So I decided to make one of my favorite Air Fryer meals! A lamb steak! I marinated the steak in oil olive and chimichurri seasoning overnight. I cooked the steak on 390 for 10 mins (flipping it at the 5 min mark). It came out so juicy. On the kale salad I used the Jalapeño + Lime + White Balsamic Vinegar as my dressing. OmG! It was so good!Everything worked so well together.

The wine I opened was purchased on a 2013 trip to Napa. Harvested in 2008. Bottled in 2011. This wine from Ridge Vineyard is 51% Syrah and 49% Grenache (ABV 14.5%). Only 41 barrels of this dynamic juice was produced. I’ll have to be honest, I almost waited a little too late to open it. The bottle was hidden in my wine closet (aka my pantry). I let it sit in my glass for around 30 minutes before enjoying. Black Cherry. Earthy. Spice. Oak. Hint of Tobacco. Medium body with good acidity. The next day I decided to open the bottle and decant the rest for an hour. Really enjoyable!
