Last week I went to a fabulous tasting at Zachy’s DC with Sophia Bergqvist from Quinta De La Rosa — with food from Perfect Little Bites!
Since 1906, Quinta De La Rosa has been a family owned business located on the banks of the River Douro (Portugal). The property was a christening present given to Sophia’s grandmother. Please check out their website to read more about their history. It’s a really interesting story!
The douRosa Red (one of my favs) is made from 52% Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, Tinta Roiz, Tinto Cão). Red fruit. Light tannins. Easy sipping! It’s also a really great price point.
I’m normally not a fan of Port but these aren’t your average Ports. The 10 year old Tawny Port was not overly sweet with notes of dried fruit, figs, honey. This is a relaxing by the fire and just chilling type of Port. Of course dessert and/or cheese would be awesome. At the tasting, it was perfectly paired with Panna Cotta (with spiced fig) and a beautiful chocolate mousse!
This tasting has made me super excited for my trip to Portugal in September!!
