This past weekend, my friends and I enjoyed afternoon tea at The Watergate Hotel (yes, that hotel). Traditionally served around 4 p.m., afternoon tea has been around since 1840 (started by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford). You are served different types of tea with small delicate sandwiches, scones and sweets. They bring a glass of bubbly to start.
Of course, afternoon tea turned into more laughs, cocktails and food in the Watergate’s bar called The Next Whisky Bar. This bar is surrounded by decorative whiskey bottles and bright sexy red chairs.
If you want to sit outside in the chilly DC air, there are cool igloos to rent and on the rooftop there is a small ice skating rink and warm adult beverages! (Both would be really cool first date ideas!)
