Oh no! Why did I open this wine?! It’s not “Open That Bottle Night” – where you are supposed to open that bottle you’ve been saving for a particular event (a wedding, a baby announcement or passing your WSET test). People around the world celebrate this event! (OTBN takes place on the last Saturday in February and was started in 2000 by Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher.)
Banshee’s Proprietary Blend would have been the perfect wine to take for Thanksgiving dinner. Beautiful color. Medium bodied. Red fruit. A little spice. Floral. I love that they tell us it’s made with — 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Carignan, 17% Syrah, 14% Zinfandel, 12% Grenache, 11% Petit Sirah, 4% Merlot. It’s high alcohol (14.8%), so it would get you through the awkward political conversations with your family.
Maybe I opened it because it’s Wine Wednesday or the day after the elections. Wait a minute, that pretty much embodies the spirit of OTBN! Now I can pour another glass, guilt free.
