I have to be honest and say the label caught my eye. But after a little research, I realized there was more to this wine than the label. Longavi Wines is a collaboration between Chilean producer Julio Bouchon and South African winemaker David Nieuwoudt. So it’s more than just a cute label.
Made using native yeast, Gulp! is very herbaceous, a little funky, cranberry, cherry, peppery, medium bodied with soft tannins. 100% Cinsault. 12.5% ABV.
I used my Coravin for the first glass but I totally opened the bottle to enjoy the rest. Ah well what a waste of argon — it was totally worth it. I’m going to try their Chenin Blanc to see if I get the same magic.
