On Thursday I took a quick detour into DC that led me to Cane on H Street. Cane is a family-owned business run by Chef Peter Prime and Jeanine Prime (a brother and sister duo). It’s based on popular street foods in Trinidad & Tobago. I almost ordered the entire menu! After I calmed down, I ordered the Trini-Asian 5-spice drums, Doubles (Indian fried bread, cumin-spiced Channa (chickpea)), Eggplant Choka and Rice (I tasted coconut!). Everything was soooo delicious and seasoned really well. Of course the restaurant would have plated a lot better than me but I did my best! There was even enough food for leftovers the next day.
A friend purchased a bottle of Mumm Napa Brut Rosé from Costco for a really great price ($13!!). So I decided to open the bottle and enjoy it with my meal. These Bubbles are made with 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Medium body with notes of Black Cherry and Strawberries. What a tasty evening!
The food looks delicious. How did you enjoy the wine? I believe in supporting family business. One thing I like about your blog, you try different foods and drinks yourself. Not once have you presented a negative response, that I have seen since reading your blog. When you really like something I can tell. You are sincere about about your presentations. I think I will add this restaurant to my list to try. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for commenting! The bubbles were really good and are a great price. You definitely should try it! Small, local businesses need our support. Plus it’s good food! So it’s a win win! Cheers!
